Coca-Cola has been part of American life for nearly 140 years. It was there at diners and drive-ins, at backyard cookouts and ball games. Now, as the country gets ready to celebrate its 250th birthday, Coke is showing up for the party in a big way.

The company has announced a formal partnership with the America250 initiative, a year-long national celebration honoring the history of the United States. Rather than hanging its name on a single ad campaign, Coca-Cola is taking a community-first approach, working with organizations across the country to support local events and programming tied to the anniversary.

Mini-Cans With a Story Behind Each One

The centerpiece of the celebration is a new set of limited-edition collectible mini-cans, and Coca-Cola says this is the first time the company has ever made anything quite like them.

There are 52 designs in all, one for each of the 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. Each can feature local symbols tied to that place. Georgia gets its peach. Wisconsin gets its cheese. It is the kind of detail that makes you want to track down your home state’s can.

Custom bottles and other commemorative packaging are also part of the rollout. The whole collection is built for sharing and saving, not just drinking.

Scan a Can, Win a Jeep

Here is the part that might get your attention. Scanning a participating America250 product enters you into a nationwide sweepstakes. The top prize is an $80,000 vehicle credit toward a new Jeep. There are also travel experiences and 250th Anniversary collectibles up for grabs.

The promotion includes an instant-win option as well. And a separate experience called “Collect the Country” lets you scan products to unlock entries and rewards tied to different destinations and events around the U.S.

More prizes and details are expected to be announced as the campaign rolls out.

A Celebration Built Around Communities

The campaign’s creative platform is called “Drink in America.” It spotlights everyday moments, local traditions, and the kind of shared experiences that make different corners of this country feel connected.

“For nearly 140 years, Coca-Cola has been part of the American experience,” said Stacy Jackson, vice president of Coca-Cola Trademark, North America. “Our goal is to uplift Americans throughout every zip code and create optimism for the future.”

Eric Kacker, vice president of sports and entertainment partnerships for Coca-Cola North America, added that the company is “looking forward to co-creating a celebration that inspires and engages Americans in every state and every community across the country.”

For those of us who have been reaching for a cold Coke since we were kids, this one feels a little personal. Two hundred and fifty years of America, and Coke has been there for more than half of it.
